Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a student at the University of Oklahoma or the University of New Mexico?
No. Students from other universities or colleges are encouraged to apply. In fact, more than half of our students come from outside of OU/UNM
Is housing available for the summer period?
For students who will work at the Unversity of Oklahoma, arrangements have been made for housing at an apartment building located near the Stephenson Research Center. Similar arrangements are planned for UNM.
Is this housing paid for by the REU program?
No. It is the responsibility of the students to pay for this out of their stipend.
Is there a meal plan?
No. The OU-arranged housing includes kitchen facilities.
Do I need to be a US citizen?
No. However, if you are not a US citizen, then you must hold an official permanent US resident status.
Will I receive a confirmation of my application?
Yes. Whether you send the application by postal service or by email, you will receive an email confirmation of your application. If you do not, please feel free to ask.
